On the 25th of September 2026, researchers, innovators and members of the public came together across Portugal for the European Researchers’ Night, an initiative dedicated to bringing research and science closer to society. Among the participating institutions was National Institute for Agrarian and Veterinary Research (INIAV), whose work in animal health and food safety is particularly relevant to one of the major challenges in the agri-food sector.
This is where the collaboration between BIOPIX-T and INIAV through the EU Project DxHuB becomes particularly valuable.
BIOPIX-T contributes innovative portable molecular diagnostic technology through PEBBLE, while INIAV brings extensive scientific expertise in animal health, food safety and pathogen detection.
Within the DxHuB EU project, these complementary capabilities create an opportunity to explore how rapid molecular diagnostics can support the detection of pathogens such as Salmonella in relevant real-world applications.
Salmonella remains an important foodborne pathogen, with implications that extend across the entire One Health chain, from animal health and food production to food safety and human health. Detecting and controlling Salmonella efficiently is therefore essential. Faster and more accessible diagnostic approaches can help support earlier decision-making and strengthen monitoring throughout the food chain.
INIAV’s participation in the European Researchers’ Night through the collaboration with BIOPIX-T is a great example of how scientific organizations can engage with society and communicate the importance of research in addressing real-world challenges. For BIOPIX-T, the collaboration with INIAV through DxHuB represents an important step towards connecting scientific expertise, diagnostic innovation and One Health needs.
We are proud to work alongside INIAV and look forward to continuing this journey towards faster, more accessible and more impactful diagnostic solutions.
Because tackling challenges like Salmonella requires not only great science, but great collaboration.
